Abandoned? explores the concept that nothing or anywhere is ever totally abandoned, just waiting for nature or someone to find it and give it a new life. It explores the innovative ways humans have, and can re-use their environment and how these paths differ across the European continent. Is anything or anywhere ever really truly abandoned?
Nature recovers and reintegrates what is abandoned.
Humans recycle what is abandoned.
Beauty emanates from what is abandoned and its transformation.
Abandoned? is a journey through abandoned and once abandoned places across the European continent. It explores the need for humans to make use of such places rather than building more and more new structures. It reveals their hidden beauty and their stories. Many of the buildings shown will no longer exist by the time the project is completed but it will provide a historical and visual reminder of what we have already lost and will be an appeal to us all that action must be taken before we loose forever yet more of our forgotten architecture and heritage.
Abandoned? is a documentary film about the need to re-use abandoned places, a series of photographic exhibitions exploring the hidden beauty and stories of the abandoned and a number of workshops and debates that encourage discussion on the subject of Abandoned?
